Accessing Information
Documents can be readily retrieved in a variety of ways to suit the needs of different
users:
- by attribute such as title or author.
- by a PathWalk reference between associated documents.
- PathWalks can be saved between user sessions.
- by linking from external data such as an asset or part number.
- by ‘drilling down’ through a graphical representation of the plant.
- by Full Text Retrieval (FTR).
Viewing Information
User acceptance is ensured by providing tools tailored to their needs that they WANT to
use:
- engineers view, mark-up and edit over 200 file formats with ImageMaster.
- document controllers use DM Desktop for powerful document management and viewing facilities.
- ad-hoc and remote users get intuitive access with DM Net and DM Desktop’s GUI interface.
- document authors get access using the applications they know e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, MS Office, Notes, Outlook, etc.
- line-of-business users also access CN from within the systems they know.
